Major Scale Shapes

Scales are such an important part of music vocabulary, technique and knowledge. Learning them on piano is useful for many non-pianists: vocalists, instrumentalists, songwriters, composers… why? The piano offers a unique visual/physical perspective on scales/keys due to the layout of the black and white notes - each scale/key has a distinctive shape. While seeing many sharps or flats in a key signature may look daunting, the black notes actually help to guide our fingers - so don’t be put off; Db Major is a much easier scale to ‘feel’ than C Major.
